But, as the OP says, Premier Color seems to make no difference to the Gamut. I would therefore still like to use Dell PremierColor to clamp down the color Gamut to sRGB for these non color managed apps. I calibrated the display directly using the Calibrite software and colors look great in the color managed apps like photoshop, but still totally oversaturated for non managed apps like file explorer folder icons, photos, wallpapers, Office apps etc. Sounds like a PremierColor software update is needed. It is the exact same device but is now called ColorChecker Display Pro. I am guessing the problem is that it is no longer possible to buy the i1 Display Pro from X-Rite, they now sell it through Calibrite. Unfortunately, when I try to run the Calibration Wizard in the PremierColor software I get an error message saying the calibration device I am using is not supported. Anyways, hope this helped someone else with the same problem, let me know if there's a better way to fix this.I purchased an X-Rite i1 Display Pro to use with the Dell PremierColor software, hoping this might improve things. I don't know if my laptop was actually defective and this was like putting bandaids on it, or if this is how it's intended to be, but it kinda sucks that I had to do this for a brand new >$1k laptop. However, this was also tedious to do for everything. If an app supports it, like most browsers or VSCode, forcing sRGB fixed the tissue for that app. This also led me to another solution through more searching: Turning off hardware acceleration in apps seemed to fix it, but it's a bit tedious doing this on every app that you install. When I was in the process of troubleshooting, a certain forum rabbit hole (I forgot exactly where) suggested this. Then reopen apps to make the changes take effect. Then click on the color profile you just added and press "set as default profile" in the bottom right. Go to Start Menu->search and click "color management". After going down many forum rabbit holes, I think I fixed it. Turning off HDR solved the system-wide problem, however it still seemed like many apps (Discord, Firefox top bar, VSCode) still seemed washed out. Dell support also acknowledges this as a "solution" here. However, for my normal non-hardcore-photo-editor uses, all it did was make the screen blank out for a second when the charger was plugged in and make the colors look washed out. Initially, I turned HDR on to try it out, maybe it would make things look better the screen supported it, so why not try. Let me know if there's another or a better way: There were many things I found online, but none of those worked or were applicable, so here's how I fixed it for future reference. However, from the first day, I noticed my colors were washed out in many conditions. I recently got an refurbished with the OLED panel.
